If there weren't any ".plr" or ".plr.bak" files at all in your Terraria Players folder then I would assume they were somehow being deleted.

Theoretically, if this is true and there ends up being a problem with your NTerraria when it saves character files, you should see your character in the game's selection menu but you wouldn't see the edits you made your character in NTerraria. Nothing happens to the ".plr" file the game supposedly reads both the ".plr" file and the ".DAT" file as a single character file whenever you open it up and select your character. That ".DAT" file should be there so that whatever you did to the character in NTerraria shows up when you play your Terraria game. Neither NTerraria or your game launcher should be affecting your ".plr" and ".plr.bak" files.įrom my understanding, NTerraria creates a new version of each ".plr" file you load and change, and saves that file as a ".DAT" file.
